What Is a Remedy for Acne Scars?

Scars can be an embarrassing leftover from acne blemishes and can be difficult to get rid of. There are different types of acne scars, some of which are irreversible, such as ice-pick scarring. Discolorations and hyper-pigmentations are types of acne scars that can be treated using items you can find in any health food store. Here are some of the best treatments for discoloration-style acne scarring.
  1. Vitamin E Oil

    • Vitamin E oil helps the skin repair itself and protects new skin cells from damage. It can be applied onto the skin using a cotton swab.

    Baking Soda Spot Treatment

    • Baking soda can lighten the skin and help to remove dead skin cells, allowing new skin to appear. Soak a cotton swab in a mixture of 1 tsp. of baking soda and 1 tsp. of water. Apply it directly to the acne spots once a day.

    Lemon Juice Toner

    • Lemon juice contains very high levels of vitamin C, or citric acid, which can slough off dead skin cells and promote new cell growth. Apply it to the face using a spray bottle once a day after washing.

    Urine Compresses

    • Fresh urine contains high levels of hormones that can encourage new cell growth and cell turnover, helping to make acne scars and discolorations vanish (see Resources). Soak a cotton pad in fresh urine, and apply it to the skin for 5 minutes. This can be applied twice a day as needed.

    Apple Cider Vinegar Toner

    • Apple cider vinegar can be applied to the skin as a toner after washing. Fill a spray bottle with apple cider vinegar and spritz the skin once a day. It helps to protect the delicate pH balance in the skin. This can allow the skin to heal and recover naturally and can help acne scars to disappear quicker.
